While BABES rides are open to cyclists of all skill levels, it's helpful if you feel comfortable with reading maps and following road signs before attending one of our rides. But if you aren't, we will help you become a more self-sufficient cyclist! |
BABES maps of metro-east routesAs a service to St. Louis-area cyclists, Belleville Area Bicycling and Eating Society ride leaders are sharing maps of their favorite metro-east (Illinois) routes. While we hope you join us for our Wednesday Evening Rides, Ice Cream Social Rides and other events, we know there are times you want to go on a ride on your own. For the most part, these routes are on scenic, low-traffic country roads. Special thanks go these people: Dawn Weber, manager of the Fairview Heights Touring Cyclist store, for sharing some of Touring Cyclist's Illinois routes with us; Tracy Hall for sharing the GEARS at Greenville First Christian Church routes; Mark Rosen of the Highland Parks & Recreation Department for sharing the Silver Lake Mountain Bike Trail map; the Illinois Department of Natural Resources for sharing the Pyramid State Park map; and Wayne Shook for sharing the elevations for the Mascoutah-Freeburg ride. Most of these maps are PDF files, so you will need the Adobe Reader to view these documents. All maps will appear in a new window. NOTE: These maps are intended for personal use only. To use these maps for other purposes, you must obtain the permission of the people, organizations or businesses that developed the routes. Use of the Lebanon maps except for personal use or events affiliated with the Gateway Council of Hostelling International is strictly prohibited. AvistonBelleville
